While Google is not the only search engine but it is the most prominent compared to Bing or Yahoo. This is why every website has to get on the good side of this search engine for them to drive in the traffic that their site needs.

If you will adhere to the old SEO tips, your website will not rank. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become a tricky technique to keep up with and it remains to be one of the driving forces that will get your online business to succeed.

So the question remains, how do you conquer the algorithms that Google placed upon their search engines?

Google’s Advice on SEO

Matt Cutts of Google has one advice: stop focusing on discovering SEO tips and concentrate on delivering quality content.

For a long time now, site owners focused on making sure that search engines will notice them by placing keywords strategically on their content. While this still works, Cutts advices against it. Content is still king and here are the major points that will make your website get ahead.

  1. Feel free to use the synonyms of your keywords or keyphrase. The search engine crawlers of Google are programmed to recognize synonyms. For instance, if your keyword is “doctor”, the words physician and medical professional will be identified together with the main keyword. Using all three will tell Google that your content is all about doctors.
  2. Do not be too technical about it. The new algorithms of Google will be able to view the totality of your content to pinpoint its relevance to a user’s search.
  3. Focus on quality and not what the search engines are looking for.

These are the new SEO tips that you should live by when creating your content. Be true to the information that you will be providing your readers and Google will see just how relevant your website is.

Keyword Optimization

Keyword optimization is something that you will have to learn to make your website search engine optimized. This is important if you want your website to have a high number of visits every day.

Just to give you a quick recap about SEO, it is a common Internet strategy that focuses on making a website search engine friendly. This will allow it to obtain a higher search engine position. There are several ways that you can do that but it mostly revolves around keywords.

If you have your own website, you need to live and breathe the proper use of keywords. This is where keyword optimization becomes an important strategy that you have to learn.

Defining Keywords

Keywords work as identifiers. It helps search engines identify if a particular website is relevant to the words encoded by a user in search engines. When Google deems you relevant in the search through your main keyword or those on the content of your site, you will be included in the list that will be shown to the user. When your website is placed in the first page of the search engine result page, the chances of the user visiting your site will be higher as compared to appearing on the tenth page.

The main keyword or phrase that you will use should be properly optimized in the following areas of your website: domain name, heading tags, meta-tags, image alt tags, title tags, content, and links.

Keyword Optimization Tips

Recently, the Google search engine altered their algorithms to ensure that the search results will come up with quality listings. Because of that, website owners and SEO managers give more importance on keyword optimization more than before.

To help you keep your site keyword optimized, here are a few tips that you might want to look into.

1. Choose the Main Keyword
Every website must have one main keyword or keyphrase. There are tools that can help you in your search. One of them is Google Adwords. Aim for the popular keywords that have low competition. The challenge is choosing one keyword that you will use in your site. If you choose the right keyword, then you are on your way to driving a lot of traffic into your site.

2. Keyword Density

Keyword optimization also involves keyword density. The common practice among writers is 3-5%. However, I always use keywords once every 100 words and it worked out just fine. Make sure you do not overstuff your content with keywords because search engines do not like this. They will probably ignore your content if they detect too much of the same keywords.

3. Keyword Placement
In keyword placement, there are three places that search engines usually look at: first, middle and last paragraph. Given that, place your keywords in the first sentence of these paragraphs. Distribute them in between if your content is more than 300 words.

4. Use Keyword Synonyms
Another tip that I can give you is to use synonyms. For instance, this website has a domain name of It is natural that I use “earn at home” for my main keyword. If I keep using that same phrase on my content, that will not be keyword optimization. That will be keyword stuffing. Synonyms like work from home and working at home can be utilized so my website will not be charged with keyword stuffing.

5. Stay Updated
Keyword optimization also means you have to stay on top of the changes made by search engines. I highly encourage you to stay on top of this by keeping tabs on new SEO rules. That way, you can revise your SEO strategy to maintain your search engine ranking in result pages. Try reading through forums and other social media strategy sites for more information.

What is SEO

What is SEO?

What is SEO? This is one question that you need to answer if you are serious about making a living off the Internet.

SEO is the acronym for Search Engine Optimization. Wikipedia defines SEO as “the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines”.

Search engines refer to Google, Yahoo, Bing and other engines that we go to to begin our search for information. When a user inputs keywords in search engines,  a list of relevant websites will be shown in the search results.

For instance, if you want to know the recipe for chicken stew or something, you go to search engines, type the keywords recipe for chicken stew and you click the button search. The search engine will give you a list of websites that contains the best recipes for chicken stew. What is SEO

Of the millions of websites on the Internet, search engines refer to an algorithmic ranking system that will let them know which site is most relevant to the search of the user.

SEO is an important Internet Marketing strategy that enables website owners to get a high rank in that system so they get more visibility when a user does a search. Small business SEO strategies usually involve various kinds of searches: images, content, videos, academic, news and several other forms of information found on the web.

The basic principle is, when you rank high in search results, you get more visitors. When you get more visitors, there are more chances to increase sales or advertising revenues.

How to SEO

SEO is not really complicated to learn but it does take a lot of getting used to. The concepts are simple but the details are quite massive! Not only that, you need to be in tune with the latest SEO rules because we all depend on the algorithms that search engines put up.

For instance, Google SEO made the headlines last year when significant changes in their algorithm bumped off some websites from the top spot in search results. Remember the Panda in 2011? We all had to go back to our drawing boards to make sure we get back to the basics as ask ourselves, what is SEO?

So to give you the basic rules in SEO, here are a few tips that I have gathered for you:

1. Utilize your keywords. Keywords will let the search engine know if your website is relevant to a search. Even if you have thousands of articles about chicken recipes but your keywords are all over the place, Google will not be able to recognize that. Put your keywords in titles, tags, content, images, etc. Just make sure you do not stuff your content with too much keywords to avoid being penalized.

2. Content is everything. When I say content is everything, I mean it! Content will give you relevance and will also have the power to convert website visitors into loyal customers. Make sure your content is unique, informative and have keywords in the right places (first, middle and last paragraph).

3. Link yourself to relevant sites. This is one mistake that some website owners make. They think that quantity will give them a higher ranking. That may be true before, but search engines got a lot wiser now. They are looking for quality above quantity now. So make sure your links are in the right place.

4. Updates keep you alive. Search engines need to detect activity in your website. That means you have to do something new in your site every so often. This can be done by uploading a new material. It can be an image, a new article or video. Anything that will tell search engines that your website has something new. A website that has been left for a month or so will be marked as inactive by search engines.

I strongly advise that you keep exploring answers to the question, what is SEO? You need this knowledge in order to survive this domain. I’ll try to input more articles that will explain the different SEO techniques. They’ll be available very soon.

Online writing is probably one of the most valuable jobs that you can get in the Internet domain. And I’m sure a lot of people will agree.

Written Content Worth Reading

It doesn’t take a Nobel Prize author to make it big as an online writer. All you need are great ideas and a good grasp of your chosen language – like in my case, English.

If you are considering a career in online writing, here are a few tips that I would like to give you.

1. Make your content an easy read. Leave the big words for research papers and scientific studies. You are not writing a term paper. Use simple words that can be easily understood by anyone. Remember that the Internet caters to a global market and not everyone has your language as their main dialect.

2. Adopt a casual and conversational tone in writing. This is the most engaging tone of writing that you can use. Even the more technical article will not bore anyone if you succeed in engaging your reader.

3. Go straight to the point. Internet readers have a very short attention span. You only have a few seconds to capture their interest otherwise, they will be clicking on another link.

4. Watch your grammar. A great idea is lost if it is written in a grammatically incorrect article. Polish your grammar and more people will finish reading your articles.

Online writing also places a heavy weight on keyword optimization but that should be written in another article. We will get to that later on.
